File Lock

This is a 4 digit combination lock created using the file tree system. The combination is entered by clicking one of the 10 folders numbered 0-9 as show to the left. Clicking on one of the folders reveals 10 more folders. This is repeated four time one for each number in your combination. For example (see photo below), if your combination was 5-9-2-7 you would start by opening the 5 folder followed by the 9 then 2 and finally the 7 folder in which you can place your files. This file combination lock is theoretically as secure as an iPhone, in terms or number of combinations available. There are definitely some security flaws to the file combination lock, and it is not intended as a substitution for encrypting your flies, but merely a way of adding an extra layer to "hiding" files from other people who may be using the same computer.

Some Steps to Increase the Effectiveness of the File Lock:

  1. Make Files Hidden (This is probably the best thing to do to add a layer of protection to the file lock).

  2. Use a different language to name files. (This makes it harder to use the search box to find files.)
