Slouch
Now I love my mom and everything but all her nagging about my posture has really gotten annoying. This hackNJIT I realized that there were so many students and not a single parent to nag about the poor posture happening around us. Slouch would change that. Slouch is a wearable sensor and alerting device that would alert its wearer of bad posture. Perfect for those long coding sessions, and late-night homework grinds. Slouch features a secret hidden feature - a sleep detector. If Slouch catches you napping it will send out a long and continuous buzzer to wake you up because everyone known sleep is for the weak 😉👍.
This project was done in Python using a Raspberry Pi as well as a sensor pack that featured an accelerometer and gyroscope to detect the posture of the wearer's back. And alerted the wearer to correct their posture or wake up through a buzzer. The Raspberry Pi was connected to your laptop through a TCP connection and allowed you to view your posture data.
Shoutout to developers Connor Criscoe and Jonpierre Grajales who were part of the Slouch team
This posture is not great indeed Jonpierre will be alerted to correct it
Oh no! Jonpierre fell asleep. Good thing Slouch has a built in alarm. (Peep Connor working in the background 👀)
